I was born in Beckenham, Kent and brought to Mersea aged 1, moving into Christ Church as a schoolgirl. From being a child and as an adult I have walked its streets through changing times.
A teacher, I have worked in various Colchester schools, in other British towns and abroad. This has given me the opportunity to see the similarities and differences in other people’s cultures and approaches to developing their towns. Although a public worker and an employee, I also have experience of ‘profit and loss’ in that I ran two small, one person businesses of my own.
Married to a military man, I chose to be involved with families as we all faced troubling times and peaceful moments. It has helped me to meet different people and see life from other perspectives. As a councillor, I wish with your help, to guide Colchester through the current in-between years, as we move from being a small, market town into a successful, inclusive, aspiring centre. - A place where my children, and your children and grandchildren, can be motivated to achieve and proud to live.
